Amara Riversong
An award-winning beadwork artist whose pieces have been exhibited in three national museums.
The Story
Amara works with size 13 cut beads — so small that a single cuff can hold nine thousand of them. Her palette honors the old trade colors: greasy yellow, cheyenne pink, cobalt. Each commission begins with a story from the wearer, which she translates into pattern, direction and color before the first bead is threaded.
Craft Technique
Flat and peyote stitch beadwork, antique trade beads, brain-tanned backing
